guest biographies

Aaron Allston

AggieCon regular Aaron Allston's latest novel, Starfighters of Adumar, in the Star Wars: X-Wing series, debuted last August. He's currently working on a Celtic urban fantsy, Sidhe-Devil, and a new military-action SF novel, Mongoose Among Cobras. He has also written or co-written some 40 role-playing game supplements.

Jayme Blaschke

Jayme's first story, "Project Timespan" was published in Interzone #116. Since then, he has produced many other works, including "The Dust" which appeared in Interzone #129, and "Cyclops In B Minor" which was included in Writers of the Future Vol. 14. In addition, he has written several interviews of SF/F personalities. When not writing fiction, Blaschke works as a sportswriter for the Temple Daily Telegram.

Tippi N. Blevins

Award-winning author Tippi N. Blevins' stories have appeared in several major anthologies as well as the popular vampire fiction magazine Dreams of Decadence. Originally from Taiwan, Tippi now lives with her dogs in Texas, where her interests include cryptozoology, marine biology, and hallucinogenic weasels. You can read some of her work at Bookface.com and visit her webpage.

Julie Caitlin Brown

The multitalented Julie Caitlin Brown is most known to media SF fans from her recurring role on Babylon 5 as Na'Toth, the aide to the Narn Ambassador G'Kar. In addition to her acting credits, Brown is an accomplished country-blues singer and agent. Additional information can be found at her online fan club, The JCB.

Lillian Stewart Carl

From Lillian Stewart Carl's official bio, lifted directly from http://www.lillianstewartcarl.com/: "Over the years I've been inventing my own genre, mystery/romance with supernatural/ historical/ mythological underpinnings. And I've become a firm believer in the odd synchronies of the writing life. Soon after finishing Ashes to Ashes, for example, which is about a woman from Missouri named Rebecca working in a replica of a Scottish castle, I visited the real castle and discovered the tour guide was a woman from Oklahoma named Rebecca."

Clockwork Storybook

Celebrating its second anniversary, Clockwork Storybook is an online publisher, with more than a hundred stories and novellas, a half dozen chapbook titles, and a host of novels and collections scheduled to be released in print editions in the coming months. They can be found at http://www.clockworkstorybook.com.

Cat Conrad

Award-winning artist R. Cat Conrad creates imaginative glimpses into distant galaxies. His paintings offer visions of other worlds -- an astronomical representation beyond current technology.

Roxanne Longstreet Conrad

Although she was born in New Mexico and raised in the Army, Roxanne Longstreet Conrad is undeniably a Texas author. Her novels have been referred to as "twisted" and "inspired" and both are classifications she's proud of. Her past works include Stormriders, The Undead, Red Angel,Cold Kiss, Slow Burn, Copper Moon, and Bridge of Shadows.

Bill Crider

After being abandoned by a pack of wolves, Bill Crider was brought up in Mexia, Texas (famed home of Playmate Anna Nicole Smith). Crider is known in the mystery field as the Anthony-Award-winning author of the Sheriff Dan Rhodes series, the Carl Burns series, and the Truman Smith series. He is doomed by his evil twin, Jack MacLane, who has written Blood Dreams and Goodnight Moon. Unfortunately, even his wife doesn't know that there are two of them!

Scott Cupp

The undisputed master of bug, cow, and dead-things related fiction! From the hilariously irreverent "King of the Cows" to the cross-dressing heroes of "Thirteen Days of Glory" this is a man who has scared the bejeezus out of us all.

Charles de Lint

Making his second appearance at AggieCon, Charles de Lint is the author of numerous fantasy novels and short stories. His works include the recently-published Forests of the Heart and Triskell Tales, as well as Moonlight and Vines, Someplace to be Flying, Jack of Kinrowan, and The Ivory and the Horn, to name a very few. He maintains a webpage with a more extensive biography.

P. N. Elrod

P.N. "Pat" Elrod emerges from her lair in an abandoned chocolate factory to bask in the sunshine of Aggie Hospitality. When not fending off hordes of teeming fans wanting her to sign copies of her Vampire Files, Jonathan Barrett: Gentleman Vampire, and the two I, Strahd novels, she is writing. She and actor Nigel Bennett (LaCroix of Forever Knight) have completed their 2nd novel for the Baen Starline series, His Father's Son. Her next Vampire Files novel, Lady Crymsyn, will be out in November. And if everybody is really really good, she will read her short story, "Myhr's Adventure in Hell" starring Myhr and Aggie regular Satan, A.K.A. Troy Rhodes.

Kat Butt Comix

Created by three AggieCon staffers -- Shane Heckethorn, Adam Richards, and John Willis -- Kat Butt's upcoming Litterbox includes work from many noted writers and artists, including Brian Stelfreeze and Thomas W. Knowles.

Katharine Eliska Kimbriel

Katharine Eliska Kimbriel is the author of Night Calls, Fire Sanctuary, Hidden Fires, Kindred Rites, and Fires of Nuala.

Thomas W. Knowles

He attended his first AggieCon in 1979 where he was encouraged to continue his writing attempts. Some of his works include Wild West Show and The West that Was. When he's not writing, he fishes, hunts, takes photos, and teaches a creative writing course.

Julia Blackshear Kosatka

Joe R. Lansdale

Joe Lansdale is the high-falutin', award-winnin', butt-kickin' East Texas author of over a hundred short stories and a dozen novels. His works include Bad Chili, Mucho Mojo, and Jonah Hex: Two-Gun Mojo. He has won two Bram Stoker awards, one for Best Short Story: "The Night They Missed the Horror Show," and one for Best Novella: "On the Far Side of the Cadillac Desert with Dead Folks," which also won the British Fantasy Award and the American Mystery Award for Best Novella. Other works include DC Vertigo's Blood and Shadows and a story for Weird War Tales.

Michael Lark

Living Room Games

Living Room Games is a group of friends and gamers who took the news of Earthdawn® being canceled harder than most. They started their own game company in the hopes of obtaining the rights to print Earthdawn, as well as come out with their own line of games. So far they have succeeded admirably at this, recently releasing Paths of Deception, an Earthdawn module, and Barsaive at War. And what the heck, half of 'em are ex-Cepheids. See, we don't all come to bad ends, no matter what the police reports say. More information on Living Room Games, their fight against the menace of the Yeti, and the FAQ that part of this bio was plagiarized from can be found at their website.

Ardath Mayhar

Ardath Mayhar has written a lot of things, from poetry to Westerns to SF. Her numerous short stories have appeared in Amazing Stories, Weird Tales, Asimov's, and the Catfantastic anthologies, among others.

Lee Martindale

Lee Martindale is a Plano, Texas-based fantasy writer and anthologist. She edited the ground-breaking Such A Pretty Face: Tales of Power & Abundance, published in May 2000 by Meisha Merlin, and is currently discussing doing a second volume. Her stories have appeared in two volumes of the Sword & Sorceress series, Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine and on Bookface.com. She's also the Founding Editor/Publisher of Rump Parliament Magazine, a nationally-recognized size issues activist, and a member of the SCA. You can find out more about her at http://www.sff.net/people/lee-martindale.

Myhr/Jamie Murray

Myhr is simply the most sought after half-man half-bobcat M.C. in the industry. A product of the early bio-experiments preceding the biowars of the early 21st century, Myhr was sent back in time to the present day as an ambassador of imagination, creativity, and humor.

Kerry O'Quinn

Teresa Patterson

A mainstay of the fan community, Teresa Patterson coordinates art shows across the nation. In addition to writing fantasy short stories and singing filk, Theresa co-authored a guide to the Wheel of Time series with creator Robert Jordan. She also works to promote and support science fiction and fantasy art through her work as the president of the ASFA.

Radio Free Oz

Disc-Jockeys to the gods, Keepers of the Undeniable Cool, Purveyers of the Sights and Sounds that no Masquerade Ball would be without... that's right: it's Radio Free Oz! And they will once again be hosting our Masquerade Ball and Costume Contest on the Saturday night of the con. Melanie Rawn

Melanie Rawn is the author of the Exiles series, the Dragon Star series, and the Dragon Prince series, a collaboration with Kate Elliott and Jennifer Roberson, and a number of short stories. More information can be found at the official Melanie Rawn website.

Brian Stelfreeze

Brian's innovative marriage of graphic design and cartooning has placed him on the bleeding edge of sequential art. Brian has created widely acclaimed covers for Shadow of the Bat, Detective Comics,Birds of Prey, and the wholly ignored and widely forgotten Psy-Cops.

Martha Wells

Martha Wells has recently published her fourth novel, Wheel of the Infinite. Her other work includes The Element of Fire, which was a finalist for the 1993 Compton Crook/Stephen Tall Award and a runner-up for the 1994 Crawford Award, City of Bones, and The Death of the Necromancer, which was a 1998 Nebula Award Nominee. last year's guests of honor, aggiecon 31

We had an exciting group of writers, artists, editors, publishers, and media guests gracing AggieCon 31 with their presences. Below are the guests of honor for AggieCon 31, to refresh your memory if you attended or to rouse your envy if you couldn't make it.

Harlan Ellison

Harlan Ellison has been called one of the greatest living short story writers by more people than we have room to name here. He is the winner of numerous awards, including the 1993 World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement, and appears frequently on ABC's Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. He was a guest at AggieCons 1 and 5, and we are delighted to have him back at last.

Known for his work on Vampire: the Masquerade and The Crow: City of Angels, Tim Bradstreet is one of the premiere artists working in comic books and games.
